Quote of the week

"He always did what he wanted to do. And he wanted to do it his way and he wanted to do it the best way. His death was no different from his life – a work of art.”

- Tony Visconti, the producer of a series of David Bowie’s albums, wrote a beautiful Facebook tribute to the star earlier this week.

In today's connected world, personal brand management has become big business. But while social media has made it easier to raise profiles, you have to turn up the volume for your brand to be heard amid the noise. This article in the FT looks into the new industry of personal branding consultants, and presents some of their advice on how to market yourself.

Discovery of the week

The Afghan Kitchen on Angel’s Upper Street is tiny and somewhere you might easily miss. But the tables are full, the wine is flowing and the food is truly memorable. We had a few dishes to share, including the aubergine with yoghurt, moong daal accompanied with a pretzel-style delicious bread, chutney and pickles. The atmosphere is lively and if you’re looking to try a new type of cuisine – in our experience Afghan restaurants in London are few and far between – this is worth a visit.

Last night saw the launch of London’s Lumiere festival marking the 350th anniversary of the Great Fire of London. The festival will see art installations based upon light popping up across the capital over the next 3 days. One of the Sermelo team members managed to take a snap of an installation hung in the middle of Oxford Circus.
